Trading Journal for Tradovate: Which Reports to Export
Short answer: export two of Tradovate’s account reports, Orders and Cash History, and import them together. Orders gives your trades and the stop orders you placed; Cash History gives every fee. In Parallax, click Data → Import trades…, select both files at once, and your net P&L matches Tradovate to the cent.
Tradovate’s four reports, compared
Tradovate’s Account Reports have four tabs that can be downloaded as CSV. Each holds a different part of the picture:
| Report | Trades | Stop price | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orders | Every filled order | Yes: stop orders you placed | No |
| Cash History | No (only P&L per pair) | No | Every fee: commission, exchange, clearing, NFA |
| Fills | Every fill | No | Commission only |
| Performance | Pairs of fills | No | No |
No single report has everything, which is why Parallax reads Orders and Cash History together. Orders alone also works; the trades then come in without fees.
Step by step: export from Tradovate
- Click the drop-down next to your account name, then the gear icon. That opens Account Reports.
- Set the dates you want.
- On the Orders tab, click Download CSV.
- On the Cash History tab, click Download CSV.
- In Parallax, click Data → Import trades…, click Orders.csv, hold Ctrl and click Cash History.csv, then click Open.
What comes across
- Trades from flat to flat. Filled orders are replayed in order, so adding to a position, scaling out and reversing all come out the way you traded them. An order that flips your position (sell 2 while long 1) closes one trade and opens the next.
- Every fee. Each fee in Cash History is matched to the orders filled at that moment, so each trade’s commission is complete.
- Your stop and target. A stop order on the closing side, placed while the trade was open, becomes the trade’s stop, so R multiples work without typing anything (see What Is an R Multiple?). A limit order on the profit side becomes the target.
- Demo accounts are marked as sim.
What doesn’t come across: Tradovate’s reports have no MAE or MFE, so those stay empty for Tradovate trades.
Importing again
The same files can be imported again safely: trades already in the journal are skipped. Export a longer date range whenever you like.
