How Much Does a Trading Journal Cost in 2026?
Short answer: most trading journals cost between $15 and $100 a month, or roughly $150 to $900 a year on yearly plans. Some have free plans with limits, a few sell a one-time licence, and Sierra Chart’s own trade log costs nothing extra. Parallax costs $16 a month, $149 a year or $299 once.

What you pay over time
Monthly prices look small until you add them up. Here is each journal’s cheapest paid plan over one and three years, billed the cheapest way it offers (yearly where there is a yearly plan):
| Journal | 1 year | 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| TradeZella (Essential, yearly) | $315 | $945 |
| Tradervue (Silver, monthly) | $359.40 | $1,078.20 |
| Edgewonk (yearly) | $197 | $591 |
| TradesViz (Platinum, yearly) | $179 | $537 |
| Parallax (yearly) | $149 | $447 |
| Parallax (lifetime) | $299 | $299 |
A one-time licence is the cheapest over a few years, if you know you’ll keep using the journal. A monthly plan is the cheapest way to find out whether you will.
What changes the price
- Number of accounts. Many journals limit accounts on cheaper plans. If you run several prop firm accounts, check the limit before you buy.
- Imports. Automatic broker sync often sits on higher plans; file upload is usually on every plan.
- Markets. Some free plans cover stocks only, which leaves out futures traders.
- Extras. Mentoring, sharing, AI features and replay usually belong to the top plans.
- Taxes. Prices are usually shown before VAT or sales tax, which is added at checkout where it applies.
Is a paid journal worth it?
Compare the price with what you pay to trade. A futures trader taking a few trades a day can spend more on commissions in a week than a journal costs in a month, and a prop firm trader may spend more on one evaluation reset. A journal that helps you spot one repeated, costly habit can pay for itself quickly. If you only take a few trades a month, a free option is probably enough. How to keep the cost down
- Use the free trial during a normal trading week before paying for anything.
- Pay yearly only once you know you’ll keep journaling. It’s cheaper per month, but you pay it all at once.
- Check what the cheapest plan leaves out (accounts, imports, markets) before upgrading.
- Look for a one-time option if you plan to journal for years.
